GLM-5.3-Flash is the first natively multimodal model in Z.ai's GLM-5 series, released on August 26, 2026 with 320 billion total parameters and 18 billion active per token. It accepts images alongside text, supports a 1,048,576-token context window, and offers the same low, high, and max reasoning_effort levels as GLM-5.3, defaulting to max. Pre-training ran on a 30-trillion-token multimodal corpus. The architecture pairs linear-attention layers with sparse attention layers and adds Manifold-Constrained Hyper-Connections for scaling efficiency, a combination Z.ai says keeps long-context behavior precise while needing roughly three times less attention compute and a 4.4 times smaller KV cache than GLM-5.3. On Z.ai's numbers it scores 84.3 on Terminal-Bench 2.1, 63.4 on DeepSWE v1.1 against 46.2 for GLM-5.2, 70.75 on ParseBench, and 55.3 on Humanity's Last Exam with tools, which the company summarizes as ahead of GLM-5.2 across the board and close behind Claude Opus 4.8 on coding and agent benchmarks. Z.ai publishes the weights on Hugging Face under the MIT license. It fits agentic coding, GUI and office-document understanding, and long-horizon tool-use workloads where a small active-parameter count matters more than peak reasoning depth.
