O3 is OpenAI's advanced reasoning model, pairing stronger performance with broader tool use. In expert evaluations it makes about 20 percent fewer major errors than O1 on difficult real-world tasks, with particular gains in programming, business and consulting work, and creative ideation. The model thinks before responding and can use tools within a single reasoning session, searching the web, analyzing files with Python, reasoning over visual inputs, and generating images. It accepts text and image input, with a 200,000 token context window and up to 100,000 output tokens. O3 supports streaming, function calling, and structured outputs through the Chat Completions and Responses APIs, making it suitable for complex multi-step problems that span code, analysis, and visual reasoning.
