gemma-4-31B-it-Ultra

by Google

Gemma 4 31B IT Ultra is a serving variant of Google DeepMind's instruction-tuned Gemma 4 31B, the dense 30.7 billion parameter model that is the largest in the Apache 2.0 licensed Gemma 4 family released on April 2, 2026. The Ultra build is a speed-focused profile of the standard model, running in FP8 precision with a 131,072 token context window, half the 256K window of the full-precision checkpoint. It keeps the model's capabilities intact: text and image input, a built-in thinking mode toggled by control tokens, and native function calling, alongside the multilingual coverage of the Gemma 4 family. The underlying full-precision model reports 85.2% on MMLU Pro, 80.0% on LiveCodeBench v6, and 89.2% on AIME 2026 without tools. The variant suits high-volume chat, extraction, and agent steps where per-request latency matters more than the longest possible context, and where a dense 31B open model is already sufficient for the task.
