Qwen3.8-27B is the dense member of Alibaba's Qwen3.8 series, released on August 14, 2026 under the Apache 2.0 license. Built as a vision-language model from the ground up, it reads images and video alongside text, with a 262,144-token native context window extensible to one million tokens. It thinks before answering by default, a behavior that can be switched off per request, offers a reasoning_effort setting to dial the depth up or down, and can carry reasoning context forward from earlier turns for iterative work. Its 64 layers follow a hybrid layout, sixteen repeats of three Gated DeltaNet blocks followed by one gated attention block, mixing linear attention with a smaller share of full attention. Reported scores include 61.7 on SWE-bench Pro, 90.3 on LiveCodeBench v6, 84.3 on OSWorld-Verified, and 94.6 on MathVision with code interpretation. At 27 billion parameters it is a practical size for self-hosting, and its mix of coding, computer and browser use, and multimodal reasoning suits computer-use agents, document understanding, and repository-level coding work.
