MAGPiE (Project MAGPiE) is a 117B-parameter mixture-of-experts language model from SCX.ai, built on a leading open-source reasoning LLM and fine-tuned for Australian context. SCX lists native tool use, reasoning and JSON output among its capabilities, with a 128K-token context window. SCX describes a two-tier fine-tuning approach: knowledge embedding from Australian federal and state legislation, ASIC and APRA regulatory material and Australian case law, followed by separate mapping of Australian English conventions. The model reasons with explicit chain-of-thought tokens framed by Australian legal and cultural context before producing its answer, rather than relying on long system prompts to sound local. It fits financial services, legal and compliance, government, healthcare and other work that depends on Australian law, terminology and norms.
