Aura-2 is Deepgram's text-to-speech model, which the company describes as the first TTS model purpose-built for enterprise applications rather than entertainment. It is designed for production voice systems where consistency, clarity and latency matter more than dramatic expressiveness, and it runs on the same Deepgram Enterprise Runtime that powers Deepgram's speech-to-text models. Deepgram reports sub-200ms time to first byte and a real-time factor of 0.111x, with a catalog of more than 40 voices. The model is tuned for the text that business conversations actually contain: drug names, legal references, alphanumeric identifiers, dates, times, currency values, email addresses and URLs. Language support has since expanded beyond English and Spanish to Dutch, French, German, Italian and Japanese. On Deepgram's own preference testing, Aura-2 was chosen about 60% of the time in customer service scenarios against voices from ElevenLabs, Cartesia, OpenAI and others, and earned the highest share of "Good" pronunciation ratings (81%, against 50 to 65% for competitors) across more than 280 enterprise utterances. It fits real-time voice agents, customer support, IVR, healthcare and financial services automation.
